The California Supreme Court heard oral arguments concerning Proposition 8 yesterday. It sounds like, from those who watched it, that the Court will uphold Proposition 8. An annoying comment (as well as the jarring "her wife") in this March 6, 2009 Associated Press story:
Robin Tyler, who along with her wife, Diane Olson, brought one of the challenges heard by the justices, said afterward that gay and lesbians cannot afford to get discouraged, no matter how the court rules.I think the last time that homosexuals were "invisible" in California was about 1974. And visibility like the "Up Your Alley" street festival just makes it easier to yell, "Back in the closet! At least until you put a loincloth on!" (Note: that link isn't worksafe; it wouldn't be worksafe if you boss has horns and a tail.)
"If this court rules to uphold Proposition 8, there will be a million of us on the streets marching," Tyler said. "We are not going away. We will not be invisible. We have had it."
